Museum of Illustration

Image
The workshop we had with David Curtis was really insightful and interesting. He gave a lot of interesting information that related to the creation of book covers and designs and the process to create one. I found it interesting that book covers reflect the key things and themes in the book. I always knew book covers reflected things that happen in the book but I never realized how creative people got when creating the illustrations and designs for the book. It made me start to think deeply about how key events and things in the book could be used to design a cover and got me thinking deeply about some of the things that happened in the books I read and made me think more deeply about it. I found the things he said about designing and illustrations really informative and the physical practice we did made me appreciate the themes of book covers more. He was very nice and provided honest feedback and ways to improve which I personally liked. I found his words informative and the tal...

Photoshop Blend Modes

Image
I learned about multiple different tools and methods, specifically the blend mode which adds a lot of customization. I also learned many new commands which would be helpful for the future like command , and command j. This could be used in other visual tasks as I could make many different effects depending on what I need for the art work. For example I could use overlay to add an image on top and have it blend into the image and create a different style of image. It also helps me as future assignments that could have me use one of these blend modes will be easily able to be completed as I know how to do the blend mode and have prior knowledge to the commands needed to complete the task.

Picasso Painting

In this project I used the brush tool to do many different things in order to replicate the original. I used both the brush tool and mixer brush with the brush tool being used to put the colors onto the right spot and then I used the mixer brush in order to blend some of the colors and add texture and detail to the image. I also used different brush styles in order to make some of the details and changed the scale of the brush in order to make some of the minor details or to make things like the background since it would be easier to make it with a larger brush. I also used the eye dropper to get some of the colors I needed that were close to the original color which was helpful in making both the image and shading relatively accurate to the original image. This part taught me quite a bit as I knew about the brush styles and size changing but the mixer brush was unknown to me. This was really helpful as it allowed me to learn a lot about how the mixer brush worked and while I don...
